St John Fisher Qualify For National Finals!
Please enter an introduction for your news story here.
On Saturday Morning, Mr Higgins and Ms McCarthy, along with a host of parents ventured down to Bristol as our Y5/6 football team took part in the South West Regional Small Schools Finals.
We qualified for this in the Autumn term and were joined by Our Lady's to make it a PFMAC clean sweep for Oxfordshire.
The competitor featured the champions of the Nine Counties from the South West (I don't know why we are considered South West?!) plus a representative from the Channel Islands.
Our children played incredibly all day, and advanced from the Group Stage - an amazing achievement.
This meant a Semi-Final, with the winner advancing to represent the South West in the National Finals.
We dominated the match, but just couldn't seem to score a goal. The game finished 0-0 and after Extra-Time it went to penalties.
Up stepped Jude, Oliver, Selasi and Deacon, who all calmly slotted home their penalties to ensure our progression.4
Although we lost a very close final, we march on to the National Finals where the best 10 schools in the country will compete.
This is a phenomenal achievement and just shows the incredible talent we have here at St John Fisher.
A magnificent day. We are all so proud of you!
