Spring Term 2 – 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,
This term our topic is ‘Where we live’.  Through this topic we will learn about landscapes, people who help us, stories and places we can see in our local area,  as well as learning about our local park, library and our school. Also we will look at how houses looked in the past and how are they different from the houses now. Towards the end of term we will listen to the Easter story and explore what do we celebrate during Easter and why it is important.
Our topic books this term are:

In every house on every street by Jess Hitcham

A house that once was by Julie Fogliano

 The Easter story

In Phonics, we will practice reading words with GPC’s both from phase 2 and phase 3. We will keep on practising reading simple sentences and writing them on whiteboards. The focus words for each week will be sent home so that you can practice reading them with your child.
During this term, we will keep on reading with your child in school, in reading groups, three times a week. After the three reading sessions, the book will be sent home. Please ensure that the book is returned to school every week by Tuesday.
Thank you for all that you do,
Miss Pavlaki.
