Archbishop Bernard Longley School Visit

Archbishop Bernard Longley visited St John Fisher today to spend the afternoon with staff, children and lead us all in prayer.

I invited him to the school to give us the opportunity to share our wonderful faith community with him, as the leader of the Church in our Diocese.

It was wonderful to have some time to talk to him about education in Birmingham, something he clearly cares a lot about.

He was incredibly impressed by our faith ambassadors who toured him around the school and showed him all the amazing work we have been doing, as well as our fabulous swimming pool.

The prayer service was beautiful. Ms McCarthy, Mrs McCarthy, Mrs Ball and Mrs Gibbons have been working extremely hard to make sure it was as amazing as it could be, the children read beautifully and the prayers in different languages were incredibly special.

The children should be extremely proud of themselves. I know I am exceptionally proud of them all, they really showed why we are the best school in Oxford.

A special thanks to Mr Dingley, Assistant Head and Head of Music at Greyfriars, who joined us for the afternoon and led the children in their singing. They were incredible.

I'll try and invite the Pope next: aim high.
